Job summary
The Senior Director, Investor Relations will serve as the Company’s primary contact for the investment community, responsible for developing and executing an investor relations strategy to effectively communicate INOVIO’s value proposition, progress status, and plans to the investment community. This role will be critical in furthering INOVIO’s mission by conveying the company’s vision, strategy, and values to external communities. Reporting to the CEO & President, the Senior Director, Investor Relations will work closely with other members of the Company’s IR/Comms, Finance and leadership teams as well.

Essential job functions and duties

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive investor relations strategy encompassing institutional investors, sell-side analysts, retail investors and influencers.
  • Direct the IR effort to target prospective institutional investors and analysts and ensure proactive outreach to introduce and update them on INOVIO via road shows, conferences and other avenues.
  • Prepare executive team members for investor events and accompany the executive team at events as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and prepare for key investor events and analyst conferences and manage pertinent follow up in a timely fashion.

  • Manage and oversee an active investor relations calendar including the planning and execution of investor conferences, non-deal roadshows, and other bank sponsored events, including quarterly investor calls.
  • Prepare all IR-related presentations, Q&As, supportive documents, quarterly press releases and conference call scripts and slides, ensuring approvals from medical/legal/regulatory reviewers.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional team members, especially legal and finance, to develop aligned and approved messaging and corporate materials
  • Serve as the primary individual to handle incoming inquiries from investors and media.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of the Manager, Investor Relations.
  • Play instrumental role in developing and building INOVIO’s brand, messaging, and all communication collateral, in concert with other members of the IR/Comms team, INOVIO departments and senior management.
  • Support the preparation of annual and quarterly SEC filings, quarterly IR Board reports, and annual proxy materials
  • Drive the collection, analysis, and presentation of feedback to management on market activity, investor and analyst perceptions and opinions, and stock ownership.
  • Coordinate support from outside vendors for website, press release distribution, quarterly earnings calls and other services.
  • Manage and coordinate effectively with external investor relations vendors.
  • Manage the IR budget.
  • Work as a positive team member in supporting and building the IR/Comms function.
Minimum requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, science or communications with a strong aptitude across these disciplines.
  • Extensive experience in investor relations function in a publicly traded company preferably with a minimum 10 years. of work experience in a life sciences business.
  • A demonstrated track record of establishing and maintaining relationships with the  investment community.
  • Prior experience preparing materials for investor calls and conferences, including presentations, slides, scripts, Q&As, talking points, etc.
  • Prior experience preparing executives to effectively interact with the investment community.
  • The ability to present company financial and operational information to the investor community.
  • Must be able to demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. A strong work ethic, ability to multitask, and present a positive image to the investment community.
  • Independent and proactive with high energy; a strategic problem solver.
  • Results oriented, organized, efficient and resourceful team player and individual contributor.
  • Analytical skills, including research skills, ability to interpret data, regulations and laws, ability to conceptualize, and ability to analyze and disseminate information in a readily understandable manner.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites specifically, PowerPoint and Excel; comfortable with databases management.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • General understanding of pharmaceutical product development and commercialization; working knowledge of financial markets, strategic and operational planning.
  • Ability to travel as needed to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and represent the company.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $237,700 to $281,400 and is bonus eligible. Individual pay decisions ultimately depend on various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, education, geography, internal equity and alignment with external market data.
