Job summary
The Director, US Sales and Sales Training will play a critical role supporting patients in the launch of a pipeline asset for a rare orphan respiratory disease in the US. In collaboration with Marketing, Healthcare Systems/Market Access (Commercial Affairs), Business Operations and Medical Affairs, the director ensures that our external contract sales organization is aligned with the overall brand strategy and launch objectives. The Director will be the strategic and executional liaison to the contract sales organization.  This position will be responsible for oversight, sales training of the partner, ensuring the strategic integration of our sales partner with brand strategy and creating an ecosystem between INOVIO and the CSO that allows for optimization of asset launch.  This position will be responsible for the preparatory launch activities for the asset and ensuring timely and effective implementation of action plans and liaises with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that business insights and customer needs are efficiently translated into effective initiatives. The Director must be able to work independently with minimum guidance from the Senior Director while being able to influence cross functional partners and senior management.

Essential job functions and duties

  • Serves as the Sales Director Liaison for INOVIO to our Contract Sales Partner organization to strategize and execute a rare orphan respiratory disease launch in the US.
  • Serves as the sales training liaison for INOVIO to our Contract Sales Partner organization to plan and execute comprehensive disease state and asset training at launch and beyond.
  • In partnership with the INOVIO Director of Analytics and Market Research and the Contract Sales Partner, design and execute a strong analytics approach to measure the success of the asset commercialization and sales execution.
  • Contributes to the foundational brand launch strategy, plans and marketing activities for the asset.
  • Develops and presents to leadership  the successful implementation and measurement of these plans. Prioritizes and manages work to ensure resources are focused on key initiatives. 
  • Actively partners with key stakeholders in marketing medical affairs, sales, healthcare systems and business operations to align contract sales partner and organizational plans to the brand plan.
  • Provide direction to agency and vendor partners to ensure quality and timely completion of deliverable or services, within budget.
  • Build effective working relationships with key internal and external customers, including cross functional partners and thought leaders.
  • Manage the internal legal, regulatory, and medical review and approval of new materials to enable responsible and compliant training, communications and promotions.
  • Manage budgets and closely monitor performance, ensuring cost-effective delivery of all programs.
Minimum requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in healthcare, with minimum 2 - 4 years' sales training in pharma/biotech and minimum 2 - 4 years sales management (National Sales Director/VP, District Manager, Area Director, etc. managing a team of sales representatives or a team of sales managers) experience in pharmaceutical/ biotech or relevant industry.
  • Experience in a range of Marketing, Business Analytics, Market Research, Managed Care, Business Development functions is a plus.
  • Rare/Orphan or Specialty Disease experience is preferred.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $171,200 to $200,000 and is bonus eligible. Individual pay decisions ultimately depend on various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, education, geography, internal equity and alignment with external market data.
