Job summary
Working with the company’s product development and/or commercial leadership team, this position will support the development, commercialization and/or the life cycle management of candidate immunotherapy products.  This role will serve as a key interface between Inovio and external product development partners (i.e., other pharma companies, Academia, Consultants, or Government).  In addition, this position will provide program management and leadership to support R&D and clinical product development activities, as well as commercialization activities, partnering with external collaborators as well as internal functional area groups.  The candidate will be responsible for the facilitation of team meetings, management of timelines and risks, driving and holding team members accountable for deliverables, and regular written and oral communications to the team, and Executive Management/Board.  The position will drive development of therapeutic area strategies as well as support the execution of program plans as a key interface of a number of cross-functional areas including research, manufacturing, engineering, clinical, regulatory, business, and commercialization and as such prior team leadership/project management experience with the process and stages of vaccine and therapeutic product development from discovery/pre-clinical to late-stage development and commercialization is  strongly preferred. 

Essential job functions and duties

  • Provide leadership and direction between external product development partners and Inovio teams to drive successful partnership and product development
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coordination across functional areas to drive creation and execution of integrated product development and launch plans to support the advancement of vaccine and immunotherapy candidates and associated projects
  • Create and monitor project plans and timelines, and update work plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Partner with the team to proactively identify and highlight risks and issues within the project; work with the team to devise and implement effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Develop tools and processes to increase efficiencies of program management and program execution
  • Effectively communicating project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Facilitate and manage team meetings; prepare and issue meeting agendas, minutes, and actions/decisions logs
  • Partner with functional area leaders on resource planning requirements for timely completion of projects
Minimum requirements
  • Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree with an advanced degree strongly preferred in Biology, Immunology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Cell, or Molecular Biology
  • Minimum 12 years of pharmaceutical industry experience with at least 10 years directly managing cross-functional drug development and/or commercialization teams
  • Background in drug/vaccine/immunotherapy product development, and commercialization
  • Strong relationship building, communications, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in industrial drug and vaccine (infectious disease or closely related therapeutic area) product development
  • Strong oral and technical/medical writing capability
  • Attention to detail and ability to interact effectively with management and prioritize diverse projects for multiple disciplines
  • Project management professional certification is desired but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Can seamlessly conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
  • Ability to assess the inherent risks of a situation, their potential impact on a project and based on this information; independently make timely decisions

The annualized base salary range for this role is $235,000 to $270,000 and is bonus eligible. Individual pay decisions ultimately depend on various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, education, geography, internal equity and alignment with external market data.
