The Sr Dir/Dir of Business Development reports to the CEO who is also based in the Plymouth Meeting office

Job summary

As a development stage biopharmaceutical company, Inovio is looking to expand its product development programs and growing list of development partners. The Sr. Director/VP, Business Development will be a seasoned executive hired to support these operational initiatives.

Working with the company's corporate development leadership team, this position will provide transactional and strategic leadership and support for the business development and pre-commercial partnering function within the company's business areas including: in/out-licensing of immunotherapy and vaccine candidates, managing partnering contacts and diligence activities with potential licensing partners, performing valuation of the company's product programs, managing platform technologyBD, and identifying and managing strategic M&A activities.

The position will span the key functions of business development and commercial market assessment. The candidate will be expected to be a driving force in leading the company's business development function and encompassing partner identification, diligence, product valuation, and competitive analysis for the company. In the Business Development area, the candidate will help the company's leadership team assess and propose partnering deals and M&A transactions of strategic interest to the company. In the pre-commercial marketing area, the candidate wilt evaluate the commercial opportunities for the company's product programs  and  provide  marketing input based on disease/epidemiological  and competitive data.

Essential job functions and duties

Preparing business development presentations, product brochures and partnering documents to support business development activities.

Working closely with the Commercial team, perform initial market analysis for the company's pipeline products and establish the value proposition to make Go/NoGo decisions for development.

Will be responsible forvaluingassetsstructuringdealterms, and negotiating potential transactions to support business development and corporate development activities including in/out-licensing of the company's product candidates and evaluating M&A activities

In collaboration with the Commercial team, will evaluate quantitative disease and epidemiological data and market assessments to establish the business case for product development activities.

MBA/Ph.D. in immunology, biology,biochemistry, related scientific field.

Successful candidate must have strong skills in market assessment and valuation models.

Understanding the infectious diseases competitive environment is essential.  Understanding of the vaccine and immunotherapy product development process is beneficial.

Experienced in working in a highly dynamic environment, has the ability to effectively deal with change and is comfortable in a changing direction and work to adapt to change.
