Job summary

The Application Engineer will leverage the Business Use Cases and requirements to design or re-design, develop, test and implement complex software programs and applications. They also provide technical support and expertise to customers, testing applications, responding to business feedback, installations, maintenance and demonstrations/training.

Develop Applications

Application Engineers are responsible for designing, developing and implementing programs and applications. They must be able to do business analysis to create applications that respond to business needs and provide innovative solutions to common problems. They also perform prototyping, application tests and code/configuration reviews to ensure product is satisfactory.

Improve Existing Software

Responsible for existing software in addition to new developments, Application Engineers perform debugging, testing, code/configuration improvement and re-designing tasks. They work with business process owners and quality teams to optimize products and ensure products stay up-to-date and continue to satisfy business needs.

Provide Technical Support

From Business Application Go-Live through retirement, the Application Engineers will provide business with ongoing technical support. This support includes responding to issues, providing updated software that solves bug issues, and Knowledge transfer and working with the IT Service Desk team to ensure that the solution is appropriately supported for the Business.

Assess Customer Base

In order to design and re-design effective applications, Application Engineers must acquire and analyze business needs and problems, making recommendations to the engineering team to satisfy needs and develop solutions. They generate ideas for software products that innovate and fill gaps in the current market.

 

Essential job functions and duties

Documenting Business Applications and Inovio Solutions as necessary to ensure regulatory compliance along with compliance with internal Inovio IT practices.
Design and Configure Business Application to ensure that they meet the Business and IT requirements.
Document Work Instructions for administering Inovio Business Applications and Inovio Solutions.
Documenting & Creating Visual Representations of Use Case
Provide Technical Support for Business Applications and Inovio Solutions.
Performs ongoing maintenance and review of applications systems and programs; identifies problems and develops appropriate solutions.
Analyzes and designs program logic, screen layouts, reports, station criteria and testing criteria to support development of new or enhanced systems.
Reviews and analyzes organization business needs; confers with users to evaluate requirements, discuss solutions and develop plan of approach.
Performs all aspects of systems design including writing required programs, testing and evaluation of new processes and implementation of new applications.

 

Minimum requirements

Experience:

Experience Documenting SDLC
Experience with Change Management
Experience working in a Regulated Environment
Experience configuring/programming software in a regulated environment.
Experience configuring and administering Electronic Document Management Systems
Experience working at both Large and Small Companies
Experience with creating/configuring software based upon Business Use Cases and workflows.
Experience developing/configuring one or more of the following systems

Document Content Systems
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems
Engineering or Scientific Specific Systems
Ticketing Systems
Data Modeling and Analytics systems
Quality Management Systems

 

Skills:

Time Management
Programming/scripting experience with one or more scripting languages and SQL
Ability to clearly communicate technical details and issues with the business directly
Microsoft Visio
Microsoft Office
Problem Solving
