Job summary

The Senior Scientist provides strong scientific and technical leadership for molecular immunology efforts aimed at elucidating biological pathways engaged by Inovio vaccines and therapies.  He/she works as part of a preclinical team to evaluate existing and novel vaccines, adjuvants, and immunotherapy combinations in animal models. The Senior Scientist collaborates with the Analytical Sciences group to design and implement studies of human clinical samples.

Essential job functions and duties

  • Provide scientific and technical leadership for molecular immuno-oncology research projects.
  • Design and implement research studies to elucidate pathways engaged by Inovio’s vaccines and therapies.
  • Perform lab-based, hands-on research focused on animal tumor models.
  • Collaborate with researchers studying human in vitro systems to evaluate molecular immune readouts.
  • Communicate results at internal meetings and external meetings with pharmaceutical and academic partners.
  • Work as part of a team to contribute to the development and implementation of the immuno-oncology research goals.
  • Mentor and lead research associates and scientists as required. 

Minimum requirements

  • Ph.D. with 8-10 years of training in molecular immunology or cancer immunology
  • Experience with gene expression and principal component analysis using open-source software
  • Experience with murine tumor models and related immune monitoring assays is strongly desired
  • Knowledge of human immune system and related immune monitoring assays is strongly desired
  • Ability to quickly learn new software that will be available with emerging technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
