The VP of Investor Relations will serve as the Company’s primary contact for the investment community, responsible for developing and executing the IR strategy. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the Company’s leadership team.
Essential job functions and duties
Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive investor relations strategy encompassing institutional investors, sellside analysts, retail investors and influencers.
Direct the IR effort to target prospective institutional investors and ensure proactive outreach to introduce and update them on Inovio via road shows, conferences and other avenues.
Support communication with covering sell side analysts and outreach to non-covering sellside analysts.
Ensure appropriate communication with retail shareholder base.
Play instrumental role in concert with other Inovio departments in developing and building Inovio’s brand, messaging, and all communication collateral.
Lead the preparation of news releases, investor presentations and associated materials.
Support the preparation of quarterly financial press releases, conference call scripts, annual and quarterly SEC filings, and quarterly IR Board reports.
Drive the collection, analysis, and presentation of feedback to management on market activity, investor and analyst perceptions and opinions, and stock ownership.
Coordinate support from outside vendors for website, press release distribution, quarterly earnings calls and other services.
Responsibilities are broadly defined and are expected to increase as quickly as aptitude is demonstrated. This is a highly challenging position that draws heavily upon analytical, creative, and interpersonal skills. The ability to assume complete ownership of key project tasks. While close contact with other team members is maintained throughout projects, this Director must organize his/her own tasks and schedules in delivering high quality work.
Manage and coordinate effectively with external investor relations vendors.
Manage IR budget, work closely with legal and finance.
College degree required, master’s degree strongly preferred
Min 8 years of experience in investor relations and/or other related groups
Must be able to demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills
Ability to manage concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment within deadlines
Strong project management skills are imperative for leading small teams
Independent and proactive with high energy; a strategic problem solver
Results oriented, organized, efficient and resourceful team player and individual contributor
Ability to effectively work with executive and financial leadership as well as the investment community
Analytical skills, including research skills, ability to interpret data, regulations and laws, ability to conceptualize, and ability to analyze and disseminate information in a readily understandable manner
Strong Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills are required; comfortable with databases, like ACT, used in IR.
Travel is required
Experience working at a biotech/pharmaceutical company
General understanding of pharmaceutical product development and commercialization; working knowledge of financial markets, strategic and operational planning
