Job summary

The embedded software engineer is responsible for development and maintenance of electroporation device software, associated tools, applications and documentation. Responsibilities span the entire development cycle, including requirements specification, design, code and unit test, and software/hardware integration and test.  

Essential job functions and duties

  • Develop and enhance existing electroporation device firmware and associated software tools to support new features and improve overall reliability.
  • Design and develop embedded software for new platforms and create and enhance supporting tools.
  • Create unit and integrated test plan and test cases and perform unit and integration testing and code reviews.
  • Develop firmware and tools to support manufacturing, debug and diagnostics, board level testing, compliance, etc.
  • Create or update requirement, design and test documents.
  • Work as part of a team to build embedded systems.
  • Interface with electrical, mechanical and quality engineers.
  • Implement and maintain automated build infrastructure.
  • Document, troubleshoot and resolve software issues.
  • Develop and improve software development processes and procedures.
  • Complete other engineering duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, hobby projects (e.g., software development in micro controllers, robotics, etc.)
  • 0-3 years of experience in embedded software development  using C/C++ languages
  • Software debugging and testing experience
  • Experience in using oscilloscopes and other test equipment to troubleshoot hardware/software issues
  • Excellent problem-solving, design, development, and debugging skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Motivated to continue learning new skills
  • Familiarity setting up various embedded toolchains and build and debug environments
  • Experience with software engineering processes and tools
  • Familiar with Configuration Management and Issue Tracking systems
