Job summary

Inovio is currently seeking a Clinical Device Trainer with a background in the life sciences, who desires to transition away from traditional/academic lab-based bench work towards application-based translational science in a biotechnology/clinical setting.  As Inovio continues to conduct numerous global clinical trials, the Clinical Device Trainer will be in a position to uniquely support the advancement of Inovio’s revolutionary DNA immunotherapy pipeline. The Clinical Device Trainer will apply a versatile skillset to engage and train clinical site personnel (MDs, DOs, RNs, LVNs etc.) on the utilization of Inovio’s drug delivery technologies. The Clinical Device Trainer will travel to clinical sites to represent Inovio as a credible expert in device operation and function. Clinical training platforms include hands-on, face-to-face demonstrations and virtual trainings via internet videoconferencing. Clinical Device Trainers must also interact in-person with clinicians to oversee & ensure successful treatment within the patient setting.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interfacing with corporate Clinical Operations & Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality departments. Additionally, collaboration on interdepartmental device optimization and usability studies will be required.

Essential job functions and duties

  • Provide device training for medical personnel and external collaborators
  • Ability to rapidly become an expert in the use and function of multiple drug delivery device models
  • Resolve device troubleshooting issues; conduct reporting and investigation
  • Perform presentations to promote the training program & Inovio technology
  • Professionally coach medical staff through patient treatments
  • Document and maintain training records
  • Adherence to Corporate Policies and SOPs
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum requirements

  • MS required, PhD preferred, in biological life sciences, preferably in immunology, cell or molecular biology or RN degree
  • Enthusiastic and capable of traveling frequently (up to 70% of the time), sometimes on short notice
  • 3+ years of research experience within an academic/industry lab or biomedical setting
  • Comfortable delivering presentations and conducting demonstrations to diverse audiences; previous customer-interfacing experience in Sales/Marketing/Field Application/Technical Support would be advantageous
  • Ability to quickly adapt and tailor training style to needs and background of audience members
